The city’s advising motorists to avoid the intersection of 23rd and Iowa streets Monday morning.

City contractors will be paving the intersection as early as 6 a.m. Monday, said Lisa Patterson, city spokeswoman. She said there will be detours during portions of the project and drivers should plan to find an alternate route.

Paving will continue along Iowa Street, between 23rd and 31st streets, the rest of the week. The number of lanes may be reduced south of 23rd Street.

The entire road maintenance project is expected to be finished in early August.
