Paul Getto, a retired Lawrence dentist, will be honored by Douglas County Senior Services during the organization’s annual Jazz It Up fundraising event, set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 1 at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H.

Getto will receive the Seaver Award, named for Jim and Virginia Seaver and given annually to a Douglas County resident who has worked on behalf of and volunteered to improve the life of older citizens in the community.

Among Getto’s contributions is creation of the “Coupon for Caring” program, established through Douglas County Senior Services.
