CornerBank to honor Community Cornerstone
Shirley Martin-Smith is winner of CornerBank’s Community Cornerstone Award for January.
A public reception for Martin-Smith will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the lobby at CornerBank, 4621 W. Sixth St. The bank also will donate $100 on behalf of Martin-Smith to The Fairy Godmother Fund.
Martin-Smith, a former Lawrence mayor, founded Martin-Smith Personnel Services Inc. in 1987. She franchised with Adecco-The Employment People in 1998 and now serves a 15-county area.
CornerBank’s awards program honors dedicated volunteers whose services help build strong communities.
