Special city
To the editor:
Who needs capitalism when our Saturday Columnist’s favorite city leaders are smarter than the market? Seriously, using our tax money to favor one business over others is just speculating, and we taxpayers are left speculating who really benefits. Our leadership needs to focus on setting standards for the community that make Lawrence the kind of city that great businesses prefer. Imagine Boulder “courting” a Wal-Mart distribution center. Lawrence does have a reputation – for preserving and encouraging what makes our city special and not for growth at any cost. I can live with that.
