The city of Lecompton will receive $304,900 for construction of a new water storage tank, thanks to the federal Community Development Block Grant program.
Lecompton is one of 13 Kansas towns that will share more than $5 million in water and sewer grants, according to the Kansas Department of Commerce.
Lecompton wants to construct a 150,000-gallon water tank and demolish its existing tank, which is at least 30 years old and holds only 50,000 gallons.
