Community supper moves to Manhattan

The Kansas Land Trust will host its fifth old-fashioned community supper Feb. 2 at the Union Pacific Depot in Manhattan.

A buffet will begin at 6 p.m. The menu will include beef brisket and a vegetarian main dish, salad, vegetables, bread, dessert, tea and coffee.

At 7:15 p.m., there will be a presentation by Kelly Kindscher, a plant biologist at the Kansas Biological Survey. A founding member of KLT, Kindscher is well-known for his books on edible and medicinal uses of prairie plants. He also teaches in the Kansas University Environmental Studies Program.

The cost is $20 per person. Seating is limited. Reservations are due by Friday. Send your name, e-mail address or phone number and number of diners in your group with your payment to Kansas Land Trust, 16 E. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.

The Kansas Land Trust is a nonprofit conservation organization. It is based in Lawrence and has members throughout the state. KLT provides conservation easements for landowners who wish to preserve their land in perpetuity. To date, the organization has protected more than 5,500 acres of Kansas land.
