KU women tumble at Nebraska, 71-51, drop to 11-4 overall, 0-2 in Big 12 play

LINCOLN, Neb. – Foul trouble again hurt the Kansas Unversity women’s basketball team in insurmountable ways.

First, when leading 19-16 in the first half, fouls on sophomore Danielle McCray and senior Taylor McIntosh put both on the bench, while Nebraska then went off on a 17-2 run. The other crippling product of the Jayhawks’ 21 personal fouls Saturday afternoon was the Huskers’ 30-of-32 performance from the charity stripe. Both aided equally in Nebraska’s 71-51 win over KU, dropping the Jayhawks to 11-4 overall on the season and 0-2 in Big 12 play.

KU struggled to find offensive rhythm after the Nebraska run late in the first stanza in the Devaney Center, shooting just 29.6 percent from the floor in the second half. McCray led Kansas with 14 points, though was again limited to playing time in the first half (10 minutes, four points) due to foul woes. Sade Morris scored 11 for the Jayhawks, who again have no choice to rebound quickly, as the schedule gets no easier.

Bonnie Henrickon’s club travels to Waco, Texas, to face No. 8 Baylor Wednesday night. The Bears ended KU’s 2006-07 season with a quarterfinals defeat in the Big 12 Tournament.
