Lawrence residents graduate from Leadership Kansas

Leadership Kansas, a leadership growth program of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, celebrated graduation Nov. 2 for the program’s 40-member class.

The class included four members from Lawrence:

¢ David Corliss, Lawrence city manager.

¢ Roger Pine, an owner of Pine Family Farms and a Republican state senator.

¢ Stanley Rasmussen, regional counsel for the U.S. Army Environmental Center’s Central Regional Environmental Office.

¢ Michele Weigand, vice president of investments and portfolio management for the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation, or KTEC.

Two recent Lawrence residents – Peggy Loyd and Mike Maddox – also graduated.

Class members participated in programs across Kansas to inform them of key business and government issues facing the state, and to inspire the leaders to become activists in creating solutions.

The program has more than 1,000 graduates, including former governors, lawmakers and CEOs of Fortune 500 firms.
