ID issue

To the editor:

Recently, I went to Lawrence’s Hollywood Theaters with one of my friends to go and see a movie. Both of us are 13 years old and look like young teens. We both didn’t bring our school IDs and were forced to pay full price (adult price).

This is about a dollar more than student’s price, but it meant we lost a dollar more than we should every time we went to the movie theaters. Some of us had to earn those dollars by ourselves, and for most of us we don’t earn a lot. Besides, I saw no sign at the movie theaters that said that all students are required to bring a school ID in order to pay student price.

Our school IDs are for school; we don’t carry them around just because. What if your school didn’t even hand out school IDs. This policy isn’t fair. I just wish the movie theater wouldn’t keep taking advantage of the teens in Lawrence, especially because this is a popular place for us to go.
