Kansas University's Orange Bowl victory was sweetly savored by city commissioners.

Commissioners spent the first few minutes of their meeting watching, via Internet video, the city council of Blacksburg, Va., don Kansas University ballcaps.

The council in Blacksburg - home to Orange Bowl opponent Virginia Tech - had made a wager with the Lawrence City Commission on the outcome of the game. The loser had to wear the ballcaps from the other university.

"We tip our Hokie hats to you for a game well played and well done," Blacksburg Mayor Ron Rordam said as he put on a blue Jayhawk cap.

The Blacksburg mayor said he also intends to send a check to the United Way of Douglas County to commemorate the bowl game.
