My Angle: I figured that since the movie was called “The Holiday” it would have something to do with the holidays, but I later figured out that it meant the British kind of holiday, which is a vacation. Despite the lack of holiday cheer, the movie was the typical love story: Girl gets dumped; girl is really depressed, conveniently falls in love with the man of her dreams, goes through a little splurt of turbulence as the ultimate test of the relationship and lives happily ever after.
If you’re looking for some holiday cheer, this movie is not for you, but if you want an average movie that is somewhat predictable, this movie is for you.
The moment that really put me in the holiday spirit was: The last scene on New Year’s Eve.
Favorite quote from the movie: “You’re funny, which is like a bonus.” “Hello, my name is Ms. Napkinhead.” “You look like my Barbie!” “I know what I want, and what I want is you.” “Do you mind if I sat? I feel as if I might bump into you.”
