Old duffel bag

To the editor:

I just can't stop thinking about that old Orange Bowl duffel bag at Downtown Barber Shop in Lawrence. It was from 1969. This old bag is just one of many collectibles in Jon Amyx's shop. His shop is chock full of KU collectibles and everyone who works there is a Homer.

Yea, it was a ritual. Every other week I'd get my hair cut in his shop. I remember sitting in the barber chair and looking at that old duffel bag, wondering when we'd get back to this bowl. When would our football program get back on top? The old duffel bag has gathered a lot of dust over the years.

Thank God the outcome last night was different from Jan. 1, 1969. What a great win. Maybe now Jon will add a new duffel bag to his collection.

Go, 'Hawks!

Too bad that place will butcher your hair. I only went there once. I won't repeat that mistake again.

Blasphemer! Jon and Jay have the best barber shop in Lawrence! Been going there since I was a kid and will go nowhere else. Their shop, to me, is a big part of what makes downtown so special. I suggest everyone get there hair cut there (the conversation is priceless!)

Hey, beobachater, Mike has the shop down the block. Downtown Barber is Jon's shop. I have been going there since it opened. A great place to go. I have had a bad cut there before too, and that barber is no longer there. My hair grew back just fine.
