To the editor:

I am just writing in hopes that someone will post a reminder about snow clearing in Lawrence. I am an avid runner and have had to deal with people and businesses not clearing their sidewalks or parking lots of snow for many years now. I have gone so far as to lodge complaints the past two years as suggested on the city of Lawrence Web site, but they have mainly gone unnoticed. Sometimes the businesses clear their sidewalks, and sometimes residents do, but most of the time they just wait around hoping for it to melt and disappear on its own.

I run along Sixth Street, one of the busiest streets in Lawrence, and I am not the only one out there. There are kids walking to school out by Free State that have no choice and have to trudge through the snow. I would just appreciate it if I wouldn’t have to be the one to complain and the businesses/residences would just clear their walks the day after or day of the snow.
