Column criticized
To the editor:
While the Journal-World leans to the left, for the most part, particularly when publishing wire reports that blame the Bush administration for every bad occurrence, including even the weather, I have always felt there was some parity on the editorial page until the Feb. 16 edition.
Your reprint of the Jim Shea attempt at journalism entitled “Survival of hate radio in doubt” from the Hartford Courant completely destroys any credibility of attempting to be unbiased on the part of the J-W.
Not only does his article demonstrate his total lack of an understanding of the illegal immigration positions by various factions by his insinuation that conservatives actually hate illegal immigrants, but further illustrates he is himself engaged in “hate journalism,” which one might say is paradoxical. He obviously has never listened, at least not well, to what most of the people he is accusing of hate are actually saying.
You have, in reprinting this article, engaged in aiding and abetting a poor illiterate soul who is using his rights under the First Amendment to our Constitution in an attempt to deprive others of this same right. A disagreement with others regarding issues of the day are fair game for credible journalists, and is healthy for our society, but your reprint of this article was shameful.

Lawrence
