Humane Society pets blanketed by donations

The Lawrence Humane Society has received an overwhelming response to its request for blanket and linen donations.

Bobbie Pray, part-time employee at the Humane Society, said the organization received between 5,000 and 10,000 pounds of linens in the past two weeks.

She said the shelter wanted to thank everyone for their “outstanding response.”

Now, the shelter is running out of storage space. Pray said the Humane Society has enough blankets for about six months and hoped the community would wait until then to begin donating again.

The community can drop off blankets and linens at the shelter, 1805 E. 19th St., or at a Planet Aid box in Petco’s parking lot, 3115 Iowa.
