Physicians group names new CEO

Kansas University Physicians Inc. announced Friday that it had named Jim Albertson to the new chief executive officer position.

As part of the restructuring following KU Medical Center and KU Hospital’s new affiliation agreement, KUPI was made more independent of the medical center and with more of a relationship to the hospital. Albertson, formerly the chief financial officer for KUPI and the senior associate dean for finance at KU School of Medicine, took the position Feb. 1.

“Jim has proven himself an invaluable member of the medical center’s leadership team,” said Dr. Kirk Benson, president of KUPI’s board of directors.

Bob Page, president of KU Hospital, said Albertson shared the hospital’s commitment to provide outstanding patient service.
