CNB names new Lawrence president

Charles Derby is the new president for Lawrence operations of Central National Bank and regional director for the bank’s Northeast Kansas region.

Derby, who had been a vice president working in the bank’s branch at 3140 Nieder Road, now oversees operations for Central National’s six Lawrence locations and two locations each in Topeka and Gardner.

Derby has 16 years of banking experience and has worked primarily in commercial lending since joining Central National in 1999. Derby previously worked as a bank examiner and field office supervisor for the Office of the State Bank Commissioner.

He earned his finance degree from Pittsburg State University and graduated with honors from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado. Derby has lived in Lawrence since 1992.

Central National, based in Junction City, is a family- and employee-owned bank founded in 1884. The bank has total assets of more than $850 million.
