To the editor:

I’m not sure where so many have lost their way. Bravo to the editors of this paper for discussing the University of Kansas’ choice to pour money into an unnecessary project while leaving their responsibilities in Wichita to the wind.

Perhaps it isn’t KU’s fault. After all, our federal government is still pouring money into an unnecessary war instead of taking care of the economy with meaningful economic stimuli. Is that a trickle-down effect? What’s the big deal over nearly a half-trillion dollars to the Iraq effort when Americans have no jobs, homes or health care? My grandparents of the World War II generation always took care of home first, and it served them well. When did we stop fulfilling our responsibilities? Both of these outrageous situations can be illustrated by this move: I’ll go build my neighbor an eight-car garage while my roof caves in.
