Gould Evans adds San Francisco firm

Gould Evans, an architecture and design firm with offices in Lawrence, announced Thursday that the company’s San Francisco office had merged with Baum Thornley Architects LLP of San Francisco, extending Gould Evans’ long-term trend towards growth and national expansion.

The firm continues nationally as Gould Evans, but will be known as Gould Evans Baum Thornley in San Francisco.

Gould Evans was formed in 1974 in Lawrence and now employs 200 associates in eight offices nationwide. Projects recently completed by the Lawrence office of Gould Evans include South Junior High School, an addition to Southwest Junior High School, an expansion of the Kansas Union at Kansas University and First United Methodist Church’s Celebration Center.

The firm currently is designing renovations for KU’s Allen Fieldhouse and a new Center for Child Development at Kansas State University in Manhattan.

Among Baum Thornley’s projects: Paradox Winery and Duckhorn Vineyards in Napa Valley. The firm concentrates on multifamily housing, wineries and commercial and residential projects.
