Sports reader

To the editor:

I appreciated getting the special Lawrence Journal-World Kansas University basketball insert, “A title turns 20: A look back at KU’s remarkable run to the 1988 NCAA men’s basketball championship” in the Feb. 16 paper. I felt the 50 cents charge for a copy of this historical visit down memory lane for old KU fans like myself was a steal.

I thought it was an excellent edition, especially because of the way you covered a lot of the lesser-known player bios and, of course, some of the stories and pictures that retold the story in fresh ways. After reading the interesting piece by Ryan Wood, “Tracking down team fun, but difficult, task,” I felt some of Ryan’s ups and downs of doing a great sports coverage job.

For a young writer, it looked like Ryan did a pretty good job. I also enjoyed the special KU sports edition from the Orange Bowl that was offered in January.
