The city will kick off the process of handing out grants to area artists by having a meeting next week.

Lawrence Arts Commission will play host to a workshop from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.

The meeting will provide information on applying for the 2008 Community Arts Grant program.

The Arts Commission will award grants of up to $1,000 for worthy art projects in the community.

Grant applications are due March 24.
