Suspect in Last Call shooting still in Ky. jail

A man wanted for shooting three people Feb. 10 outside a Lawrence night club remained in a Kentucky jail on Monday.

Carlos Jackson, 26, Topeka, was still in the Christian County, Ky., Jail awaiting extradition to Douglas County. A jailer said she didn’t know whether he had signed extradition papers.

Jackson was arrested Friday night at the home of relatives in Hopkinsville, Ky. Hopkinsville police and U.S. marshals made the arrest, acting on a Douglas County warrant alleging three counts of aggravated battery.

Because of the Presidents Day holiday, Douglas County court and district attorney’s offices were closed Monday, so no information was available locally about the extradition process.

Lawrence police say Jackson fired several gunshots early Feb. 10 outside Last Call, 729 N.H. Two club employees were wounded, as was a 15-year-old boy who had been inside the club. All three were taken to hospitals after the incident but have since been released.
