District waste

To the editor:

Congratulations! The Lawrence school board has just made me put our home on the market. We are going to do that because of the board’s never-ending “want list” and for its decision to put the tax fiasco on the ballot for people to vote on.

I certainly hope there are enough who feel like I do and vote against the tax increase. Common sense tells me that it is better to waste $45,000 getting the vote before the citizens to vote “no” on than to vote “yes” and give the district another $600,000 to waste.

The district has definitely made me anti-education, and I hope maybe – just maybe – the school district will finally realize that common sense has to raise its ugly head somewhere along the line.

If taxpayers vote “no” on the upcoming election, it will let taxpayers who subsidize the district’s wasteful ways finally be heard. If the district needs some extra money, I suggest they sell some of their real estate that is just sitting around dormant and pay their bills.

Norman Bartlett,

Lawrence
