Holiday closings announced

Government offices and public services in Lawrence will be closed Monday in observance of Presidents Day.

All city and federal offices will be closed, including Douglas County District Court. Douglas County administrative offices will remain open.

City offices in Ottawa, Baldwin City and Oskaloosa will be open, and closed in McLouth and Eudora. Offices in Franklin and Jefferson counties will be closed.

Most banks will be closed because it is a Federal Reserve System holiday.

Lawrence Transit System buses will run. Parking will be free in downtown Lawrence.

Lawrence residential sanitation routes will be unaffected next week, and commercial routes will run as scheduled Monday.

All Lawrence Parks and Recreation programs and classes will run as scheduled Monday. The South Park Recreation Center will be closed, except for scheduled classes.

The Community Building, East Lawrence Center and Holcom Park Recreation Center will be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Eagle Bend Golf Course will be open, weather permitting. Carl Knox Natatorium will be open from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center will be open regular hours.

Prairie Park Nature Center is closed every Monday.

The Lawrence Public Library will be open.

The U.S. Postal Service won’t make regular deliveries, and business offices of post offices will be closed. Express mail deliveries will be made.

Douglas County Senior Services will be open. All dining centers will be open and Bus 62 will operate. Lawrence Meals on Wheels also will deliver.

The Lawrence Workforce Center will be open.

The customer service department of the Journal-World will be open regular hours.
