State senator seeks congressional seat

State Sen. Donald Betts, D-Wichita, on Monday filed papers to run for Kansas’ 4th District congressional seat.

The position is held by U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, who was elected in 1994.

Betts, who has served in the state Senate since 2004, has supported increases in public school funding and worked on legislation aimed at stopping racial profiling.
