State Sen. Donald Betts, D-Wichita, on Monday filed papers to run for Kansas' 4th District congressional seat.

The position is held by U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, who was elected in 1994.

Betts, who has served in the state Senate since 2004, has supported increases in public school funding and worked on legislation aimed at stopping racial profiling.

A real liberal running for the House. Can you say, TAX and SPEND liberal Democrat. Hold on to your wallet if this guy gets into Congress.

Betts would be an enormous improvement on Tanker Todd Tiahrt. He's a consistent supporter of education, of labor, of the environment.

Tiahrt a century ago would have been kept on the farm to keep him out of difficulties and from embarassing the family. Now we have him in DC where he's never met a war he didn't like.

Todd Tiart has served with honor and distinction as a member of the House of Representatives. He has been a consistent vote to keep the size of government small, reduce the tax burden on average Americans and to protect our liberty. If you want to protect your rights under the constitution you will vote to keep him. If you support a liberal agenda you will want just another liberal vote in Betts.
