Free State bowlers get revenge for earlier loss

? Free State High’s bowling team exacted some revenge Tuesday on Topeka Seaman in a road quad at Topeka’s Gage North Lanes.

After losing by 200 pins to the Vikings a few weeks ago, the Firebird boys topped the varsity standings, beating Seaman by more than 100 pins, 2,656-2,532.

“This group of boys has it in them to shoot like they did today, and we just haven’t done it,” Free State coach Anita Carlson said. “Then, to lose in our own house by 200 pins, today was their shot back at Seaman, and they did it. I did tell them, here’s their shot, take it. And they did. They know they can run with the best in the state.”

Tyler Kring’s 732 series was the day’s top showing, as Free State’s top four boys’ average score was 221 per game.

Next for Free State is varsity league Saturday at Olathe East Lanes at 9 a.m. Regionals take place a week from Saturday.
