Leavenworth ? The Free State High bowling team traveled to Leavenworth on Monday and nearly came home with a sweep.

Both Free State varsity squads defeated the Pioneers – with the boys winning 2,360 to 2,075 and the girls winning 1,799-1,797 – and the junior varsity boys also picked up a victory, 2,007-1,824.

Only the JV girls came away on the losing end, falling 1,540-1,286.

Alex Hardman (622) and Michelle Schieffer (465) turned in the high series scores for the varsity teams.

Josh Herschell (563) and Liz Love (353) paced the JV teams.
