Meeting to detail flood insurance
A public meeting will take place Monday to discuss preliminary results of the proposed new Douglas County flood insurance rate map.
The meeting will start at 10 a.m. in the City Commission room at Lawrence City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St.
Attending will be county officials and representatives of the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Water Resources, Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Flood Insurance Program.
The updated map information will be used to revise the current county flood insurance study and flood map prepared in 2001.
Flood plain management, hazards and insurance issues will be discussed.
Property owners, Realtors, bankers and developers are encouraged to attend.
