Cooperatives board elects officers

Joe Conley, a trustee for Topeka-based Kaw Valley Electric Cooperative Inc., which provides service in Douglas County, has been elected president of the Board of Trustees for Kansas Electric Cooperatives Inc.

Also elected, as treasurer, was Ralph Phillips, a trustee for Leavenworth-Jefferson Electric Cooperative in McLouth.

Trustees of the state board come from each of the 29 distribution cooperatives and three generation-and-transmission cooperatives in Kansas.

Kansas Electric Cooperatives, formed in 1941, is the statewide service organization for rural electric cooperatives in Kansas. Today its members provide power for more than 200,000 households.

Also elected were Keith Ross, trustee for Prairie Land Electric Cooperative Inc. in Norton, as vice president; and John Blackwell, trustee for Midwest Energy in Hays, as secretary.
