KU women fall to No. 18 K-State 64-58

Despite another stellar showing from 6-foot-5 freshman Krysten Boogaard, the Kansas University women’s basketball dropped to 2-7 in Big 12 play Saturday, falling to No. 18 Kansas State in Manhattan 64-58.

Boogaard put away 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as KU closed its deficit to two points in the late minutes, but couldn’t seal the deal. Sophomores LaChelda Jacobs and Danielle McCray were in double figures as well in the point column, scoring 12 and 11, respectively.

Marlies Gipson had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Wildcats, who remain unbeaten in conference play. Neither team was particularly solid from the floor, but KU was plagued by an 0-for-6 showing from three-point range while K-State hit six of 18 deep tries.

KU returns home to face Colorado at home Wednesday night. The Jayhawks lost to the Buffaloes 59-41 on Jan. 22.
