Was it worth it?
To the editor:
Kansas University made $1.26 million for the game in Kansas City against Missouri University. KU makes about $1 million for a marquee home game at Memorial Stadium, according to the article. What did the local merchants in Lawrence make over the same weekend? Was it worth it to take the game away from Lawrence for $260,000?
It is unfortunate that the local community supports the University of Kansas and Jayhawk athletics by bleeding crimson and blue but that the KU athletic department, in particular, can’t return the favor by supporting the local community in the same way.
