Helpful spirit

To the editor:

In these hard economic times, it is very noticeable that Midwestern spirit and hospitality are alive and well. As a retail associate at the main post office, I would like to extend a special “thank you” to our customers, especially the ones on the very busy Monday of Dec. 15.

These patrons exhibited the traits we are known for. There was a helping hand — and arms — for customers with too many packages to carry. Doors were opened for the elderly, strollers, handicapped and just plain ol’ courtesy. Children and adults alike were kept occupied by other friendly people in line. Our job was much more enjoyable thanks to our GREAT customers. Merry Christmas to all of them.
