Douglas County Treasurer’s office has extended until Monday the due date for payment of real estate and personal property taxes in the county.

Officials made the switch because the normal due date, Dec. 20, falls on Saturday.

The payment for the first half of personal property taxes on boats, mobile homes and business inventory items need to be postmarked or paid by Monday. Otherwise the full payment automatically becomes due.

Payments for the first half of real estate taxes can be paid after Monday, but there will be a penalty and interest.

The second half of payments are due May 10.
