Kansas kindness

To the editor:

I want to thank all those who helped my sister and her husband and their dog when their van crashed on the highway in Lawrence on Tuesday evening. They slid on black ice, their luggage and dog flew out the broken windows, and my sister was sent to the Kansas University Medical Center.

Thank you to the good Samaritan who found Maggie, their dog, took her to the vet’s office and then took her home for the night. And thank you to the tow truck driver who walked up and down both sides of the highway looking for their belongings. My deepest thanks to all of you who helped, and to the trauma and ICU team at KU Med.

The kindness they were shown when they were driving through Kansas was incredible. It makes me want to move to Lawrence! God bless you all, and thank you for taking care of my beloved family!
