Money missing after break-in at South Junior High

Money is missing from South Junior High after a break-in early Wednesday morning.

A Lawrence Police Department report said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the cafeteria.

“We’re not really sure how they got in,” said principal Will Fernandez. “We kind of pinned it down to 12:45 to 2 in the morning.”

Fernandez said police are looking over security camera footage to see if they can determine who the suspect or suspects may be.

Police were called to the school about 6 a.m. Wednesday after a district employee found damage in the cafeteria at the school, 2734 La. Police found no initial signs of forced entry and Fernandez said alarms did not go off.
