Immediate needs

• Hospice House is looking for a “go-to” person to help mow lawns, clean gutters, rake leaves and plant in the spring on a fairly regular basis. Someone who can give haircuts for in-house patients is also needed. If interested, call Sara at 331-4812.

• Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care is in desperate need of volunteers to set up CareLink units in the homes of frail and elderly clients. These units are designed for emergency personnel responses and only need to be delivered and plugged in. If available to help, contact Judith at 843-3738.

• The Lawrence Arts Center’s Children’s Holiday Shop needs volunteers to help wrap presents and assist young shoppers in picking out gifts for their families. To volunteer, e-mail lacholiday@sunflower.com.

• Douglas County Senior Services’ Adopt a Grandparent Program is looking for caring volunteers to “adopt” a senior by providing at least one item from his or her wish list and a grocery certificate. To adopt a grandparent, contact Janet at 842-0543.
