Gould Evans received a Citation Award from the American Institute of Architects Central States region for the design of South Junior High School. The awards program honored the top 15 design projects from 234 entries submitted by architects in six states, including Kansas.

At the ceremony at the Bartle Hall Ballroom in Kansas City, Mo., judges noted Gould Evans was able to create extraordinary spaces within a modest budget typical of most school districts. The school was previously awarded a Citation Award in the Unbuilt Architecture category by the AIA Kansas Chapter in 2007. The award noted the school’s abundant daylight and flexible learning spaces.
