Lawrence Meals on Wheels is seeking donations of items to place in its annual charity garage sale. Almost anything that is in good condition will be accepted, except clothing and books.

The garage sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at AAPS Storage, 2400 Franklin Road, south of Kansas Highway 10. All of the money raised by the sale will be used to help fund meals for more than 80 percent of the service’s clients who need financial assistance. Meals on Wheels doesn’t turn anybody away regardless of ability to pay.

Meals on Wheels also is seeking six to eight volunteer drivers to deliver meals one day a week to no more than six Lawrence residents. The service uses 100 other volunteers a week and currently needs 30 to be volunteer substitutes.
