Motorcyclists to raise funds for nonprofit

Riverfront Harley-Davidson, 608 N. Second St., will kick off the 14th annual March of Dimes Bikers for Babies event with pre-registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in North Lawrence.

Riders and passengers can turn in their $35 fee and pick up registration materials there today. Thousands of motorcycle riders are expected to participate in the Sept. 14 ride at the Kansas Speedway in Wyandotte County.

Last year, more than 6,500 riders raised $723,000 to benefit the March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health.

Participants will travel the 75-mile route across the area plus have lunch and receive a commemorative pin and patch.

Live music and a people’s choice bike show and a dealer’s expo will follow.
