The American Red Cross Douglas County chapter, 2518 Ridge Court, Lawrence, has appointed new officers and board members for the 2009 fiscal year.

New officers are Dan Ward, of the Lawrence Police Department, chairman; Pat Roach Smith, Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, vice chairwoman; Janell Barnow, Eudora public schools, secretary; and Brenda McFadden, McFadden Group LLC, treasurer.

Members elected to a three-year term are Caroline Trowbridge, Lawrence Journal-World; Margaret Perkins-McGuinness, Kansas University Spencer Art Museum; Verdell Taylor, St. Luke AME Church; Shannon Oury, Stevens & Brand; Nancy Thellman, community volunteer; Ken Peirce II, Intrust Bank; and Julie Boyle, Lawrence school district.
