Museum praise

August 18, 2008

To the editor:

Congratulations to the Watkins Community Museum of History for coordinating the successful "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music" exhibition. The Kansas Humanities Council appreciates all of the hard work done by everyone involved, including community volunteers. The list of accomplishments and successes is impressive.

KHC encourages all Kansans to examine the ideas, history and traditions that shape our lives and our communities. It is clear from the wonderful response to the exhibit and the special programming that Lawrence values its rich history, especially its musical traditions. We look forward to working with your community again on future programs.

I agree. I am sorry to have missed the most resent. We are fortunate in our community to have this museum and the creative minded people who organize such impressive events.
