Free fishing derby hopes to hook area kids
Area children are eligible for a free fishing trip today at Clinton State Park.
A fishing derby at Lake Henry near Clinton Lake is part of the annual O-K Kids Day sponsored by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
The fishing derby begins at 9 a.m. Fisheries department staff members will talk about different fish, casting skills and how to bait a hook. Poles and equipment will be provided.
After the 20-minute talk, the fishing will begin. Prizes will be awarded to anglers who catch the largest, smallest and most fish. Everyone will receive a free T-shirt and other prizes.
Lake Henry is south of the state park office. Signs will direct traffic.
