To the editor:

It has been 30 days since I have been able to drive my car. In those 30 days I have been taking the T to both of my jobs. Because of all the recent press the T has been getting, I felt it was important to share my thoughts and experiences on the T from the past few weeks.

I am VERY thankful that Lawrence still has another option for those who are without a vehicle or other form of transportation.

In the past 30 days I have not been late to work, I have not gotten heat stroke while waiting for a bus that many claim “to never be on time”; I have yet to see the T cater to only the handicapped or to those considered “low income,” and, most importantly, I have not seen the T be “EmpTy”. In fact, I have had trouble finding a seat on many occasions.

I am a supporter of keeping the T in Lawrence as it has been an asset to me many times. Yes, the T has its fair share of opposition, but if those who oppose it found themselves without a way to get around, they might just appreciate the T.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the drivers of the morning/evening 5, 7 and 6 bus routes. You have all been helpful and more than pleasant during this past month!
