Residents who want to save T to meet

Residents interested in saving the city’s public transit system from closure are meeting again Monday.

C.J. Brune, a Lawrence resident trying to organize an effort to stave off budget reductions for the city’s bus service, said interested parties will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.

Brune said the group will discuss whether it is interested in formally organizing to run a campaign in support of a proposed public transit sales tax expected to be before voters in November.

Group members, Brune said, have differed on whether to support the sales tax, which they believe will negatively affect low-income residents who ride the city’s bus system.

The meeting is open to the public.
