31st Street extension to be studied more

City commissioners are fine with taking a more detailed look at how to best extend 31st Street.

Commissioners unanimously agreed to a request by the Douglas County Commission to expand an existing study of the roadway. Currently, the city is studying how to best extend 31st Street from Haskell Avenue to O’Connell Road. The county is asking that the study also look at how to extend 31st Street from Haskell to County Route 1057 between Lawrence and Eudora.

The additional study is expected to cost $220,000. The county is slated to pay $210,000 of the cost, with the city picking up the rest.
