Health board welcomes new board member

Douglas County commissioners recently appointed Paul Liechti, assistant director of the Kansas Biological Survey at Kansas University, to a three-year term on the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Board.

Liechti replaces Carl McElwee, who served as a board member for the past six years.

The board oversees policies and operations of the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department.

Liechti is a member of the Kaw Valley Heritage Alliance, a nonprofit organization that collaborates on grassroots projects to protect and conserve the cultural and natural heritages of the Kansas River Valley. He also is involved with the Pinckney Neighborhood Association and is a senator in KU’s Unclassified Senate.
