Extension of 31st Street on agenda for earlier meeting

Bottom line

City commissioners will consider partnering with Douglas County on a study that would seek to find an alignment for a future 31st Street between O’Connell Road and County Road 1057.

Background

The city already has hired an engineering firm to look at ways to extend 31st Street between Haskell Avenue and O’Connell Road. But county commissioners have said they would like to partner on the project and look at ways to extend the road to County Road 1057, which has an interchange on Kansas Highway 10 between Lawrence and Eudora. County commissioners have said that the sooner an alignment could be identified for the road, the better the area could be planned.
