March of Dimes will host its premier fundraising event, March for Babies, on Saturday.

Money goes to life-saving research to help premature babies survive. According to the March of Dimes, nearly 5,000 families in Kansas are affected by premature birth.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the march begins at 9 a.m. at South Park, near 12th and Massachusetts streets. There is a 1-mile and 3-mile route.
