Trial ordered for suspect in bar owner’s death

? A 21-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial for first-degree murder in the shooting death of Wichita bar owner Teresa Hastings last June.

Donovan Thompson is charged with killing Hastings, the owner of the Half-Time Sports Bar. One of her employees was shot and wounded.

Hastings was shot after refusing to allow Thompson and several other people into the bar after the group got into a gang-related fight at the entrance.

Twice before, legal delays forced prosecutors to dismiss and refile charges against Thompson. District Judge Ben Burgess tentatively scheduled his trial for June 2.

Two other men have pleaded guilty to less serious charges for their role in the disturbance.
