Shortchanged
To the editor:
Was anyone else disappointed in the big victory parade Sunday? I was expecting a band and cheerleaders and the players, in short, a real parade. Instead, my daughter and I waited an hour and a half for a two-minute parade that consisted of the Lawrence policemen on three types of wheeled vehicles, a big green fire truck, the Haskell marchers and Bill Self and the team in small convertible cars. No cheerleaders. No music. Not meaning in any way to devalue the team’s great and well-deserved accomplishment, both my daughter and I and several others who gathered at 19th and Massachusetts walked away grumbling and feeling a bit shortchanged.
Randi Hacker,
Lawrence
